Lockouts
Ramsey Junior High has lockouts.  They happen towards the end of the month, at the beginning of a class period, when the bell rings.  Mr. Maeda, the principal, e-mails all the teachers ahead of time and tells them to lock their doors when the bell rings.  Anyone left out in the hallway gets sent to the library.  When you get sent to the library, administrators have a list of how many times you have been tardy during that month.  If you have three or more tardies, you get dismissed (suspended for one day).
This is the silliest thing, getting a free day off of school just for being tardy!  The teachers give us big, heavy books to carry around to and from school, and even to class.  We only have five minutes of passing time.  If you have a class in the basement and a locker on the first floor, you might have to go all the way to the third floor for your next class.  You might even have to stop at the bathroom.  That just doesn’t work.  I think that the administraters have lockouts, so that we students know not to be tardy, but I don’t think it helps.  I think kids like getting dismissed because then they don’t have to go to school.  Instead I think we should get a detention.
I think that we shouldn’t have lockouts for the administrator’s benefit.  What a crazy reason to get kids suspended for!
